It’s been a while coming, but finally able to do a post on three brunch spots that PG and I have been known to frequent. All three of these cafes have a few things in common – same owners, close proximity to each other and very similar menus (to the point where you don’t miss much going from one to the other, your fave dish is most likely to appear on every menu). And that’s exactly what happens whenever we end up at either one, we order the same dish that never fails -’ the Golden Folded scramble with herbs and goats cheese on multi grain toast’ PG’s with an extra side of Chorizo and mine with smashed avocado and smoked salmon. One of the most satisfying brunch dishes you’ll ever have.
Given all their similarities, there are still some distinct differences that set each of the cafes apart. I thought I’d do a write up of my experiences at all three, so if you’re ever in the area and can’t decide which one to go to…hopefully this will help But I do recommend trying each one for yourself if you’re able to!
FRIENDS OF MINE
Friends of Mine is definitely the more popular of the three. Given it’s location on Swan St in Richmond, and the vibe they have going on in the place. It’s pretty trendy, cosy, great service and also manages to be a tad fancy at the same time with the gorgeous chandeliers at the entrance. I would have to say purely for these reasons, Friends of Mine is my favourite of the three

PORGIE & MR JONES
Porgie and Mr Jones is definitely the closest to where PG and I live, so has been the one that we’ve visited the most to date. So I have had the opportunity to try a couple of items on the menu here, which is also available at all three – the smashed avocado with thyme buttered mushies – another amazing brunch dish, one of the best smashed avocado dishes I have ordered yet. The portions are always so generous, and you leave feeling so satisfied. The only downfall at Porgie and Mr Jones is I feel the service isn’t the friendliest in the few times we’ve visited, especially compared to our experiences at Friends of Mine.

Snow Pony is the simpler of the three in terms of atmosphere and fit out. In saying that, there’s an amazing photo behind the barrister that I just couldn’t stop looking at, make sure you take note if you do visit! Because it’s smaller in size, it feels cozy and the service is quick. The stand out here for me was the coffee…hands down the best of all three! So smooth and delicious.
